beside the fire on cool evenings.

Please ask about our Bird's Nest accommodations (not pictured here) available the month of June.
Our
guest rooms (all have private baths, a few with claw foot tubs)
are named for the children who grew up here. Tastefully furnished,
some with fireplaces and ocean views, each room is large and airy
with high ceilings and generous windows.
Several of our rooms can function as suites for families and friends
traveling together. All have either queen or king beds (converting
to twins) and are distinctively furnished. Our rooms feature oriental
rugs, paintings, many books (from Shakespeare to shiatsu) and
amenities Roberta has collected from worldwide travels. Whether
you watch the splash of a brilliant sunrise across the horizon,
or the sunset over the Porcupine Islands or wake to the call of
the gulls, you will appreciate your proximity to nature. Even during
the hottest days, the Shore Path Cottage is cooled by ocean breezes.

We offer a hearty, homemade breakfast (you'll leave the
table feeling healthy, not guilty) together with suggestions
for making your visit to Mt. Desert Island wonderfully memorable.
We provide maps, guide books and privileged information based
on our own personal experience and explorations of the Island.
Have breakfast in the dining room, on the porch or on the
lawn, and participate if you wish in a lively
interesting conversation.
Following a day of adventure on land or sea, relax in one
of our common rooms the library, living room or den
enjoying a warm or cold drink and something sweet.
After dining in one of the area's many fine restaurants, you
may choose to end the day at a movie, a concert, a walk in
town, or by curling up in a cozy chair in the living room
where someone is sure to be playing the grand piano. |
Not just
the bright stars from your bedroom
window, the Pleiades, the dippers and the Milky Way
undimmed by city lights...
not just the wide lawn freckled with daisies
and a field of wild flowers,
clover, lupine and poppies ...
not just the wind sighing in the pines,
the waves slapping the rocks like castanets,
or the drizzle of moonlight on the bay,
or the song of the bell buoy
haunting the night ...
It's also our home,
and yours
The Shore Path Cottage,
where we invite you to enjoy
all of the above and more. |
